Research Hub of APIIT Law School in Collaboration with the Legal Research Unit of Faculty of Law Opens New Frontiers for Research

Under the purview of the APIIT Lab Pillar, the Research Hub of the APIIT Law School, in collaboration with the Legal Research Unit of the Faculty of Law, has initiated its first edition of the "Research Week 2023" with the theme "Connecting Academics, Students and Society: Towards New Research Frontiers".

Quality research plays a crucial role in the international ranking of universities and this endeavor was an opportunity for the two universities to foster a research culture among the undergraduates, postgraduates and early career academics of the two institutions.

The event was held at APIIT Law School premises from 1st-3rd of September 2023. Justice Dr. Ruwan Fernando graced the occasion as the chief guest and delivered his keynote address on the importance of research for the legal profession. Mr. Bandula Egodage, Chairman of APIIT Sri Lanka, Dr. Dilini Pathirana, Patron of Legal Research Unit, Faculty of Law and Ms. Lakmali Bhagya Manamperi, Patron of the Research Hub of APIIT Law School, participants and academics from the two institutions were among those present.

The first day concluded with a panel discussion where experiences were shared on the importance of engaging in rigorous research and its prospects and challenges, by the scholars - Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, Prof. Sampath Punchihewa, the Chair Professors of University of Colombo - Prof. Rose Wijesekara, Prof. Wasantha Seneviratne, Prof. Naazima Kamardeen and Head of APIIT Law School, Dr. Chathura Warnasuriya.

The technical sessions were held on the 2nd and 3rd of September 2023 where fifty selected participants from the two institutions were inspired by renowned scholars from Sri Lankan Universities to explore, innovate and discover new knowledge in emerging areas.
