News | Published on 2024-08-26

APIIT Law School has once again proven its prowess in the global ADR community by hosting the 4th edition of the APIIT Law School International Negotiation Competition 2024. This year the competition was held from the 26th to 30th of August and saw a rich mix of participants both international and local, engaging in exceptional negotiation skills on a prestigious global platform.

ALSINC 2024 attracted a total of 20 international teams, as well as Assessors, with 14 international teams and 15 renowned International Expert Assessors representing the UK, USA, Singapore, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria, the Netherlands, India, Austria, Brazil, and Sri Lanka. Such mixed cultures and negotiation styles made the competition vibrant, giving students a truly rare chance to participate in a global event. The 4th edition's hybrid format opened the possibility for participants to be on-site and online, breaking geographical boundaries and allowing more people to take part in this prestigious event.

The opening ceremony was graced by the Hon. Sanjay Rajaratnam P.C., Former Attorney General. The event featured a thought-provoking panel discussion led by legal luminaries including Ms. Kathleen Ruane Leedy from USA and Mr. Felipe Glioche from Brazil. Especially remarkable was the interactive Negotiation Masterclass conducted by Roar Thun Waegger, CEO & Facilitator of the Waegger Negotiation Institute AS from Norway, which prepared the students with practical skills for the intense rounds that followed.

This year, the Champions Title was claimed by the Sri Lanka Law College – MCB Team, while Singapore Management University & National University of Singapore emerged as the Runner-Up and 2nd Runners-Up respectively. A series of special awards, including Best Opening Statement, WNI Best Negotiation Strategy, Best Teamwork Between Client and Counsel, Best Acknowledgment of Cultural Differences, Best Creative Solution Generation, Best Debutant Team, and UDECIDE Spirit of the Competition, were presented to recognise outstanding performances throughout the competition.

Echoing the success of ALSINC 2024, APIIT Law School continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering world-class legal education and providing a platform for young legal leaders to shine on the international stage.
