A respected banking professional in Sri Lanka. Started his career in the British American multinational Ceylon Tobacco Company and then went on to become a founder member of Nations Trust Bank Plc where he served the bank for 20 years to become the Chief Executive Officer/ Executive Director.

During the tenure of at Nations Trust Bank Plc he held senior positions such as Deputy CEO, Senior Executive Vice President Consumer Banking, Deputy General Manager Consumer Banking, Deputy General Manager Cards and Strategic Marketing, Head of American Express Cards and Head of Marketing. Mr. Talwatte was the architect of contracting and launching the American Express franchise in Sri Lanka and developing a best in class credit card issuing and acquiring business for the Bank to become the leading credit card issuer and acquirer in the local market. He was also instrumental in setting up the 24x7 best in class credit card contact centre and digital initiative to become the strongest digital bank in Sri Lanka. He gave leadership to make Nations Trust Bank from a small size lender to a top banking powerhouse in Sri Lanka.

Academically a brilliant student who studied Bio Science from the University of Peradeniya he went on to read for the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing for the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and there after the Master of Business Administration (MBA) from PIM, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He was selected for the Advance Management Programme at Harvard Business School, Boston, USA that gave him the global depth of thinking to be a top banking professional in Sri Lanka.
