The APIIT Sri Lanka Business Foundation programme is an APIIT award approved by the University of Staffordshire, UK, and serves as the recognised entry qualification for University of Staffordshire Business degree programmes offered at APIIT.
Designed for students with GCE O/L qualifications who are not pursuing GCE A/L studies, or those whose A/L results do not yet meet direct entry requirements, this programme bridges the gap between secondary school and degree-level study with purpose and rigour.
The programme builds the study skills, academic discipline, and personal responsibility needed to thrive at undergraduate level. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of business while developing numeracy, digital literacy, and communication competencies that underpin every business degree at APIIT.

Throughout the programme, students have access to a wide range of learning support platforms and e-resources. APIIT also provides access to LinkedIn Learning to support continuous professional development and certification opportunities.
Applicants must meet the following GCE Ordinary Level requirements:
Option 1
Note: A Credit pass in Mathematics is not mandatory for the Business Foundation programme.
Option 2
OR an equivalent qualification acceptable to APIIT and the University of Staffordshire.
Applicants who do not fully meet the standard criteria but hold other relevant qualifications or work experience are assessed on an individual basis.
Semester 1 establishes the core academic and life skills needed for a successful transition from secondary education to university. Students engage with English for Academic Purposes and Self & Society alongside the discipline-specific modules Business Mathematics and Introduction to Business Environments.
Semester 2 builds on these foundations, continuing English for Academic Purposes and Self & Society while introducing Digital Literacy & Communication and Organisations & Behaviour, deepening both technical and analytical capabilities.
Programme commencement is subject to management approval.
