Teaching & Learning

In your first year, you will explore the essential role that digital and social media marketing plays in the relationships between consumers and organisations. You will build the skills to analyse digital marketing techniques and create content that integrates seamlessly into a social media marketing strategy, making use of the full range of platforms organisations rely on to engage their audiences. You will also begin to examine how market research and data can be used to align marketing activities to broader business objectives.

Your second year builds on this foundation with a broader range of skills for deployment in the workplace. You will examine how effective digital marketing strategies drive organisational growth and how to responsibly manage a brand at global scale. You will explore how different cultures respond to digital marketing approaches and develop a sophisticated understanding of the corporate, social, and ethical dimensions of a complex global market. Your data analysis capabilities will deepen, enabling you to evaluate shifting consumer values and respond to an ever-changing market with confidence.

In your third year, you will bring together all the skills developed throughout your degree and put them into practice by partnering with an organisation of your choice to identify a shared area of research. This consultancy-led experience develops your project management capabilities as you engage in real-time problem-solving and present evidence-based recommendations directly to the organisation. Projects could range from building a social media strategy to growing a customer base.

Teaching is delivered through a combination of lectures, tutorials, and independent study, supported by books, journals, digital databases, and social media resource banks. You will be consistently challenged to interrogate and anticipate the business landscape of the future.

To deepen your industry connections, the programme includes career talks, company visits, and guest speakers from across the profession. Faculty bring a genuine depth of business experience and research expertise to every session.

Throughout your studies, you will have access to a wide range of learning support platforms and e-resources, including LinkedIn Learning for continuous professional development and certifications.

On successful completion of study, you will be awarded: BSc (Hons) Digital and Social Media Marketing.
